Robert Francis “Bob” Walschlager, age 84, of Richmond, Indiana, joined our Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Reid Health.

Bob was born on December 2, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to Raymond and Ann Szliazas Walschlager. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Robert retired from Belden Wire & Cable, where he worked as an accountant. Bob was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports on TV, reading, cooking, cross stitching, and needlepoint.

Survivors include his wife of almost 58 years, Eloise Romano Walschlager; children, Deborah (Patrick) Spears of Greenfield, Indiana, Ken (Pam) Walschlager of Lafayette, Indiana, Darlene (Julian) Armitage of Sharpsburg, Georgia, and Karen (Curtis) Friend of Richmond; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine (Roy) Ketelaar, Raymond Walschlager, Joanie (Roy) Sokolowski, and Edmund (Sue) Walschlager; nieces; nephews; and many friends, including a very special man, John Ragen, who looked up to Bob as a grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Claudette Walschlager, and parents.

Memorial service for Robert Francis “Bob” Walschlager will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Centerville United Methodist Church, 112 South Morton Avenue, Centerville with Pastor Ted Chalk officiating. Following the service, there will be a memorial gathering and dinner at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
