Ralph Neal Curry, age 74, of Richmond, IN passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 21, 2021 while surrounded by his loving family. Neal was born in Howard County on December 21, 1946 to his parents, Simon “Ralph” Curry & Louise (Hobbs) Curry.
Neal grew up and went to school in Tipton. He was a part of the Class of 1965. After high school, Neal proudly served in the United States Navy. On November 28, 1970 Neal married Sarah (Surrisi) Curry. The two shared almost 30 years together, and had three beautiful children before Sarah passed away on September 9, 2001.
Neal married Michele “Mimi” (Crosley) Curry on July 26, 2002, and the two have enjoyed nearly 20 years together. Neal and Mimi built a life together, focused on love, respect and admiration for one another. They have resided in Richmond through the years, where Neal has had a significant presence in the community. He had a passion for animals, and volunteered many hours of his time working at no kill shelters. Neal spent his working years as a long-distance truck driver for Red Gold in Elwood, IN. He also worked with his father and brother at Curry Food Service. Locally, Neal was known as “Hot Dog Man”, a title he cheerfully embraced!
Neal also spent many volunteer hours working for Janis Developmental Center. Neal’s commitment to volunteering very much paints the picture of the heart he had. His family will miss him for many reasons, but his kindness always led the way. His life was the perfect example of the golden rule, and Neal always had the respect of those around him for his integrity and passion for serving others. Neal’s quick wit and great sense of humor often made him the life of the party!
He will be so greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him!
