Paul R. Alexander, 84, Richmond, passed away on Saturday, March 13.
He was born Paul Richard Alexander in Wayne County, Indiana, on March 20, 1936, the son of Clarence Samuel & Jessie Byrdene Williams Alexander.
Paul was a 1954 graduate of Whitewater High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the Middleboro United Methodist Church. Paul retired from Alcoa as a supervisor. He was an avid horseman and a former member of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol, taking pride in the accomplishment of winning the Indiana State Mounted Patrol competition. He was also an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and a member and Past Master of the Whitewater Masonic Lodge #159.
Paul will be missed by his sons, Randy Brooks & wife Karen, Sam Alexander & wife, Lisa, Tony Alexander; granddaughter, who he raised, Lexi Alexander; stepdaughter, Lisa Carlton & her companion, David Smoot; stepsons, Eddie Carlton & wife, Kim, Larry Carlton & companion, Rebecca Bergen; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 31 years, Iva Alexander, who passed away on November 22, 2020; and brothers Frank Alexander, Myron Alexander, Robert Alexander and Clarence Alexander.
Public visitation for Paul will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A Masonic Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17 at the funeral home, with interment following in Willow Grove Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
