Paul Martin Geis, 95, Milton, passed away Friday evening October 1, 2021 at The Springs of Richmond. A son of the late Robert and Anna (Shutter) Geis, Paul was born in Connersville, Indiana on May 9, 1926. He was a graduate of Harrisburg High School. Paul married the former Kathryn V. “Katie” Kemuir on April 8, 1948 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Connersville. They shared nearly 72 years together before her passing.
Formerly of the Harrisburg community, Paul and Katie lived in rural Milton for 61 years. Together, they raised 6 children as he farmed and worked as custodian at Milton School. Paul enjoyed cutting grass, so, following retirement, he started a lawn mowing business. He also enjoyed cutting firewood, woodworking and bowling. His memberships include St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Cambridge City and the Knights of Columbus in Connersville.
Survivors include 5 children, Paula Hughes of Bossier, LA, Alyce Geis of Centerville, Gary (Janet Webb) Geis of Muncie, Virginia Geis of Milton and Phyllis (Randy) Reisert of Cambridge City; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Katie on March 30, 2020; 1 daughter, Amy Bates; 3 siblings, Robert and Russell Geis and Ruth Bates.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. John Hall at 1 p.m. on Saturday October 9, 2021 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at West Side Cemetery in Milton. Visitation will be at the church prior to the Mass from 11 a.m. until the time of the Rosary service at 12:30 p.m..
