Myrna Peters, age 83, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away in her sleep Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond.
The youngest of 3 children, Myrna was born August 14, 1937, in Richmond to Robert Knoll, a farmer in Whitewater, Fountain City, and Lynn, Indiana, and Pauline Hiatt Knoll, a farmer’s wife. She was raised on their farms. Myrna graduated from Richmond High School in 1955, where she was active in Y-Teens and Block R. After high school, Myrna attended Christian Female College in Columbia, Missouri, graduating in 1958 with a degree in interior design. In Richmond, she also met and married the love of her life, Jim Peters. The two married on June 8, 1958, and three children followed: Pam, Jim, and John. Family was everything to Myrna, and for many years she was a homemaker, dedicated to raising her active family. She eventually became a real estate agent, working first with Otto Realty and then Lingle Realty.
Myrna enjoyed P.E.O., Chapter AU, where she made many good friends and became a lifetime member. She also belonged to the Richmond Magazine Club. Myrna really enjoyed cooking, and her family will miss her oyster dressing at Thanksgiving and her cheese soufflé at Christmas. She loved to avoid cold and snowy Richmond winters and spent many winter months taking care of her aging parents in Largo, Florida. Eventually, Myrna and Jim bought a condo in Belleair, Florida, that she enjoyed for the last 15 years. E&E Stakeout Grill in Belleair has lost one of its most loyal customers.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; children, Pam (Mark) Maddox of Westfield, Indiana, Jim (Denise) Peters of Brighton, Colorado, and John Peters of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Tyler (Erin) Maddox of Indianapolis, Indiana, Katlin Maddox of Noblesville, Indiana, and Mac Peters and Skyler Peters, both of Brighton; great-grandchildren, Ross and Rowan of Noblesville; sister, Katheryne Saint-Amour of Annapolis, Maryland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Myrna will be entombed in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum in a private family ceremony. A celebration of the life of Myrna Peters will be scheduled later this year.
Memorial contributions may be made to: P.E.O. Foundation, c/o Jane Vincent, 2030 Chester Boulevard, Richmond, IN 47374.
