Matthew Alcorn, 58, of Laurel, passed away Wednesday morning at the Brookville Healthcare Center where he had been a resident for three weeks. He had been in failing health for several years.
Matthew was born June 3, 1963 in Connersville, one of three children of Whitelaw and Helen M. Alcorn Gay.
He attended Laurel and Brookville schools and was a member of the Laurel Church of Christ.
He was interested in and enjoyed learning about pre-historic times.
Survivors include his father, Whitelaw Gay of Laurel; a brother, Mike Gay of Laurel; a sister, Rebekah (Randy) Floyd of Connersville; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Gay, who passed away November 24, 2021; his grandparents, Dora and Virgil Alcorn; and two aunts and two uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Larry Pittman at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
