Marcia Paulette Lindsey Davis Hilbert, of Hagerstown, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, after a short bout with cancer. She was born in Dalton on September 25, 1943, the daughter of Marion and Mary Louise (Reed) Lindsey. She was a lifetime resident of the Hagerstown area, and a 1961 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

Paulette worked 16 years for the Town of Hagerstown, as the Records Clerk for West Lawn Cemetery, where her years of research and organization had completed the books back to their origins. She previously served the Nettle Creek School Corporation for many years as a substitute teacher, as well as working in the High School cafeteria. She was a former member of Phi Chi Epsilon, and a fan of all things Hagerstown.

She loved to read, especially history, engage in meaningful conversations and spend time with her family. She was a loving and caring mom who believed in, and supported, her children’s dreams. She believed that formal education was the way to an easier and more fulfilling life, and stressed that to each of her children. Just as much as being a mother, she cherished her role as a grandma. She loved hearing them run for her yelling, “Grandma, Grandma, Grandma!!” Nothing they did was wrong, and they could each get her to do about anything – fun was the name of the game. She was there for them all – ALWAYS.

Survivors include her children, Jerry (Paige), Eric (Beth) and Angela; 5 grandchildren, Brice, Bailey, Alexis, Allison and Zachary; 2 great-grandchildren, David and James; and her husband, William D. (Bill) Hilbert and 2 sisters, Peggy McCoy and Marilyn Minnick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart, Jerry (Pinky) Davis; sister Mona, brother Reed, and half-sister Madeline.

Private services, at the convenience of the family, will be held at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hagerstown Jefferson Township Library, 10 West College St., Hagerstown, or the Hagerstown Police Department Canine Donation Fund, 49 East College St., Hagerstown.
