Mae Cowan, age 93, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Arbor Trace.
Born December 3, 1927, in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, to James Matterson and Minnie Lunsford Parrett Coffey, Mae lived in Wayne County, Indiana, most of her life. She retired from Belden after working as a wire spooler for 41 years. Mae was an active member of Pentecostal Church of Richmond. She loved her family dearly and was a light to many people.
Survivors include her siblings, Anna Marie Clark and Jesse Coffey, both of Richmond, Lloyd Coffey of Ohio, and Walter Coffey of Crab Orchard, Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Elmer Bryan “Shorty” Cowan, who died March 3, 2019; son, Larry Cowan; sisters, Lydia Ballinger and Margaret Coffey; and brothers, Josh, Bill, Conard, Johnny, Ray, and Donnie Coffey.
Visitation for Mae Cowan will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with her nephew, Pastor Steve Clark, officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
