June Marie (Grimes) Buckalew, 62, of Richmond, transitioned in the early morning hours of Monday November 22,2021 in Indianapolis Indiana surrounded by family and love.
“June bug” was born in Richmond on September 13,1959 to Robert and Jeannette Grimes. She graduated from Richmond High School. June was a free spirit, who lived life on her own terms. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and being with her family. Her greatest achievement was her beloved children and grandchildren.
June is proceeded in death by her father Robert Grimes; stepfather Jim Newton; stepmother Wanda Falin-Grimes; brothers George Grimes, Thomas Grimes, and Donnie Collins; sisters Chris Grimes, Regina Grimes, and Judy Grimes; and her grandson Grayson Buckalew.
She is survived by her mother Jeannette Newton of Richmond; son Jeremy Buckalew (Heidi) of Austin TX; daughter Misty Buckalew-Handy (Jonas) of Houston TX; sisters Karen Godinich (Robert) and Brenda Baker (Don) both of Houston TX; Dawn Bond (Lex) of Richmond; brothers Bobby Grimes and Larry Grimes both of Richmond, and Brian Grimes of Houston TX; grandchildren Trey and Aidan Pinell of Baton Rouge LA, Lillie and Christian Buckalew of Austin TX, and Kameron, N’Kita, and JaRylin Handy of Houston TX; tons of special nieces and nephews in both Indiana and Texas.
Celebration of life service will be held at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary on Friday November 26, 2021 at 6 pm with Pastor David Eales officiating. A memorial visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 pm – 6 pm at the funeral home. “June bug” will join other family members at her final resting place, Elkhorn Cemetery in a private burial at a later date/time.
