John W. Stinnett Jr., 74, currently of New Castle went home to be with the Lord on Saturday August 14, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Marion, IN on December 23, 1946, a son of the late John W. Stinnett Sr. and Helen (Miller) Stinnett.
John was currently residing in New Castle, IN since 2020, where he is a member of the Whittier Lane Baptist Church. He had resided in several communities during his life including, Fort Wayne, IN while in high school, Poughkeepsie, NY 1969-1976, Fort Wayne 1976-1979, Richmond, IN 1979-1981, New Castle 1981-1985, Indianapolis 1985- 2020. John was a veteran of the US Army from 1967-1969 and was stationed at West Point during the Vietnam War. He held the rank of Specialist 5. He had been employed over the years at Red Oaks Mill Hardware in Poughkeepsie, NY, Tractor Supply Company, Goodyear and U-Haul. John held management positions at all these places of employment. John was a member of the Poughkeepsie Sports Car Club, Sertoma VFW, American Legion, and delivered Meals on Wheels in the Indianapolis area. He had a love for sport car racing, motorcycles, visiting state and national parks and especially had a love for the family dog.
In addition to his mother, John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara A. Stinnett, daughters, Jennifer L. Stinnett, Meagan M. ( Paul Douglas) Keppel; grandchildren, Jonathan Keppel, Josiah Keppel, Jeremiah Keppel and Patricia Keppel; sister, Nancy Lewis; brother, Jerry (Dave Marbach) Stinnett; sister, Kathy (Randy) Neith; brother, Steven (Nancy) Stinnett.
In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Rene Rettig.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:30am Wednesday August 18, 2021 at the Whittier Lane Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Keppel officiating.
