John T. Funkhouser, age 72, of Hagerstown, Indiana, passed Monday, November 1, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.
Born April 14, 1949, in Belmont, Ohio, to John and Ethel Moore Funkhouser, John moved to Wayne County, Indiana, in 1982. He served in the U.S. Navy. John worked as a bricklayer for F.A. Wilhelm Construction Co., Inc. and was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Indiana/Kentucky Local 4. He was a former member of the American Legion in Hagerstown. John was an avid reader. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and participating in various activities with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughters, Heather McCormick of Hagerstown, Cindy (Jeff) Taylor of Losantville, Indiana, and Debi (Jeff) Kemp of Belmont; grandchildren, Stephen and Nikolas Harris, Ashley, Kayla, and John McCormick, and Barb Taylor; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ellen (Ron) Duvall of Jacobsburg, Ohio, and Sherry (John) Underwood of Belmont; brothers, Richard (Jeanne) Funkhouser of Belmont and Michael (Roberta) Funkhouser of Port Richie, Florida; sister-in-law, Lois Funkhouser of Belmont; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, including his dog, Patch.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years, Rozann Willison Funkhouser, who passed January 9, 2010; parents; and brothers, Charles (Vickie), Junior (Frances), James (Jeanne), and Donald Funkhouser.
A Celebration of Life for John T. Funkhouser will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Blountsville Community Center, 7292 E. U.S. 35, Blountsville with Pastor Jim Ballenger officiating. Memorial visitation will follow at Blountsville Community Center. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
