John Allen Reeves, age 85, Richmond, passed away at Reid Health on May 16, 2021. He was born May 8, 1936, to Franklin Daniel Reeves and Mary Reeves, in Seattle, Washington.

John was a resident of Richmond, Indiana. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War; with a 23 year career in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was retired from being a Journeyman Carpenter; and a ten year career as a Correctional Officer in Del Rio, Texas. In 2009, when he retired, he moved to Richmond, Indiana, and married his childhood sweetheart, Janet. He enjoyed traveling, going fishing and seeing the country he fought for. He was addicted to TV and Country and Western movies, with his hero being “The Duke”.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife: Janet Genevia Reeves, of Richmond; son: John Wesley Reeves of Richmond; four stepchildren: Helen Riggs, Harry Qualls and Jeff Qualls, all of Richmond, and Carlotta Qualls, of New Jersey; 26 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; a sister: Anna Marie Reeves, of California; niece: Rachel Knight Love, of Beijing, China and Great Falls, Montana; five other nieces; two nephews that live in Washington State; a daughter-in-law: Linda Kay Reeves; and a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, The guys and gals of the Richmond VFW and the American Legion.

The family would like to express special thanks to Ron Wicker, VA Representative of Wayne County, Hospice Nurses, 4th and 5th floor Staff of Reid Health, the Emergency Room Doctors, Nurses and Staff and Chaplain Dave Daniels.

Funeral services will be held at Community Family Funeral Home on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Family and friends may visit Sunday at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
