Janice Ellen Bragg, Richmond, passed from this life on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Reid Health. She was a native of Richmond, Indiana, and a 1960 graduate of Richmond High School. She lived in Richmond most of her life except for a few years, 1961-1964, when she and her husband resided in his hometown, Fountain City, Indiana.
Janice retired from Signa (formerly known as Insurance Company of North America) after 30 years, working in earlier years at First Federal Savings and Loan, for Dr. Robert Bode, and for Earlham College.
Janice grew up in Bethel A.M.E. Church where she gave her life to Christ, faithfully served under the leadership of Pastor Dale Dangerfield at Restoration Outreach Center and was a current member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Derrick White.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Lawrence Bragg (Bobbi Jo) and Bryan Scott Bragg both of Richmond; ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law Eileen (Alvertis) Wall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her mother Juanita Hayes; and her devoted grandparents Jewel and Cecil Dillingham as well as an infant brother-in- law Billy Duane Bragg and two sisters-in-law, Diana Boatwright and Treva Walton.
The family extends special thanks to caretaker Brenda Jerrell and Reid Health for the services each provided.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1108 North H Street in Richmond, Indiana. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service. Community Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
