Janet Joan Burch, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Saturday, July 24, 2021, at her home.
Born July 6, 1933, in Richmond, Indiana, to Walter and Ruth Garrett Johns, Janet was a life-long resident of this community. She earned a dental assistant degree. Janet worked for Merle Norman Cosmetics for 13 years and had also worked at Hoffco. Additionally, she operated her own craft business, Lasting Impressions, for many years and was well known at the Christmas Village in the Kuhlman Center and other area festivals. Janet was a member of First United Methodist Church in Richmond. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and American Women’s Business Association. Janet served as a volunteer at Reid Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter, Amy L. Kyle of Lebanon, Ohio; sons, Robert L. Burch of and Timothy L. (fiancée, Tammy Barnes) Burch, both of Richmond; grandchildren, Nicholas Gadd and Matthew Burch; great-grandchildren, Shelby Gadd and Kassi Cones; niece, Lori (Michael) Barger; nephew, Arthur (Becky) Johns; great-niece, Ashtyn; great-nephews, Brayton, Hunter, and Eli; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 58 years, George Lee Burch, who died November 3, 2011; parents; and brothers, Robert, Raymond, and Arthur Johns.
Visitation for Janet Joan Burch will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Chalk officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
