Homer Eugene “Gene” Logan, age 84, a New Castle resident, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Henry Community Health. He was born September 18, 1936 in Byrdstown, Tennessee, a son of the late Carlos and Mae Mullins Logan.
He was a New Castle resident most of his life and was retired from General Motors after many years of service. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a recipient of several military awards and recognitions. Gene was a member of the United Auto Workers and Open Arms Church. He loved family activities and the outdoors.
Left to cherish his loving memory include one daughter, Shannon Logan of New Castle, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Heather) Duvall, Tyler Ross, Lacey Ross (fiance’ Jimmy Langdon), Matthew Sarten (girlfriend, Makenzie Hacker), Nicholas Sarten, Logan Rees, Megan Saunders; great-grandchildren, Kasyn, Kamdyn, and Paxtyn Duvall, Kinsleigh Belcher, Abel Langdon, Madeline and Alaina Sarten; sister-in-law, Diane Davis; family friends, Brian Duvall and Jamey (wife, Christa) Pierce. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Logan, whom he married February 18, 1967 and passed away in 2021; a daughter, Melissa Rees who also passed away in 2021; a son, Billy Sarten; brother-in-law, Charles Heck; three sisters, Estelle (husband, Bill) Teel, Oradean Logan, Aileen Logan; four brothers, J.C. Logan, Hollis Logan, Donald Logan, and Edward Paul Logan.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad St., New Castle, Indiana with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m., until service time Tuesday, at the funeral home.
