Gloria Davis Jennings, age 97, passed away on February 9, 2021 following an extended illness although never lost her grace and kindness towards others. She was born February 28, 1923 in New Castle, Indiana, the daughter of Fred Porter and Caroline Davis.
Gloria attended Lake Forest College for one year then graduated from Stephen College in Missouri in 1944. She married Richard P. Jennings on October 1, 1947 in New Castle, Indiana where they continued to live the rest of their lives. Gloria enjoyed playing golf at the Westwood Country Club and loved working in her yard and decorating her home for each season.
Gloria was a proud member of many clubs and organizations throughout her long life including, 50 year member of P.E.O., Chapter H, Saturday Club, First United Methodist Church, Methodist Church Auxillary, Women’s Society and served as the Steward for Communion for many years., Henry County YMCA-Heritage Club, Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Board, Henry County Art Association, Henry County Historical Society, Library Friends Board, Elks Club Ladies Association, Columbia Club-over 70 years, Tri Kappa.
She is survived by her two daughters, Connie Titak (James) of Carmel, Indiana and Patti Davis of Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren, Richard Parker (Jennifer) Lindsey Graham (Michael), Christina Kennedy (Adam), Mallory Davis, Jamie Titak (Jesus Alvarez), and Regina Kane (Ben); seven great-grandchildren, Cole and Chloe Parker, Lucy Graham, Huxley and Emerson Kennedy, Riley and Teagan Kane. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Richard P. Jennings, a sister, Nina Jane Burke and a brother-in-law, Harry A. Burke, Sr.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, 1324 Church Street, New Castle, Indiana with Reverend Holly Hardsaw officiating. Friends may call 11:00 a.m., until service time at the church.
