Galena Kae Smith-Sproles, 77, of Richmond, died Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Golden Living Center, Golden Rule. She was born August 22, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Earl and Helen D. Rickett Smith Weller and came to Richmond over 30 years ago. She worked as a nurse for thirteen years at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, and retired from Golden Living Center, Golden Rule at the age of 67.

She was a graduate of Stiver’s High School in Dayton and the Dayton School of Practical Nursing. She was a member of the Knit Wits Knitting Club. Kae loved her children and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting but especially caring for other people.

Survivors include her three children Chris (Patricia) Le Becq of Lexington, South Carolina, Kevin (Kelli) Ott of Eaton, Ohio, and Lizabeth Hunter of Richmond, six grandchildren Kaitlyn LeBecq, Austin and Maggie Ott, and Quinten (Haley), Trevor (Tearra), and Preston Hunter. Her husband Dean Sproles died in 2016 and she is also preceded in death by her parents.
