Erma June May Cottongim (née White), age 83, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Heritage House of Richmond.

Born May 27, 1937, in Petersburg, Indiana, to Porter and Willa Wineinger White, Erma was a 1956 graduate of Pike High School. She lived most of her life in Richmond. Erma worked for General Telephone Company and then for Richmond Community Schools for many years as a teacher’s aide. She enjoyed reading, watching NCIS, and gardening.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Golden Cottongim; daughter, Kerry George of Richmond; sons, Terry (Linda) Cottongim, Jeff Cottongim, and Roger (Marsha) Cottongim, all of Richmond; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty, Blanche, Faye, and Pearl; and brothers, Oliver, Everett, and Gilve.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we regret to inform you that services for Erma June May Cottongim will be private. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Campbelltown, Indiana, near Petersburg. A celebration of Erma’s life will be held in the future when the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
