Emily “Inez” Grubb, age 84, of Richmond, Indiana, was surrounded by her family as she went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 23, 2021.

Inez was born on February 13, 1937, in Laurel County, Kentucky, to Jerry and Pearl Seeley Gill. She attended school in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, before meeting her husband, George Grubb Jr., in the summer of 1954. Inez and George eloped in June of 1955 and settled in Richmond, Indiana. They celebrated over 60 years of marriage before George’s death in 2015.

Inez owned and operated a cleaning service for over 40 years. She took great pride in being a tour guide for the Wayne County Tourism Bureau, Gaar Mansion, and Hills’ Roses. Inez spent hours tending to her flower garden and enjoyed giving back to the community by volunteering at the Richmond Rose Garden and during the Rose Festival. She was most proud of her family, and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Rhonda Grimes of Richmond, Gary (Lisa) Grubb of Valparaiso, Indiana, Karen (Robert) Schroeder and Larry (Nancy) Grubb, both of Richmond, and Diana (Jim) Hoskins of Williamsburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Shelly (Adam) Pfenninger, Rhett (Bailey) Schroeder, Hannah (Dyson) Wake, Tyler (Danielle) Schroeder, Kyle (Elizabeth) Grubb, Korrin (Korak) Ladd, Lindsey (Justin) Broach, Kayla (Cody) Short, Kraimer Johnson, Brandon Grubb (Destiny Hutchison), Casey Grubb (Brenna Hill), Kohl Hoskins (Alyssa Steffen), and Brittany Johnson; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Lucy (Dan) Brockman, Arthur (Maryann) Gill, and Lyndon Gill; sister-in-law, Aletta (Carl) Collier; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Anna Lee Gill, Lida Links, Gilbert Gill, and Kathleen Dunbar; and son-in-law, William Grimes.

A public graveside service for Emily “Inez” Grubb will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Lutherania Cemetery, 2001 Liberty Avenue, Richmond. The family request that masks be worn at the cemetery. The previously recorded private family funeral service will be available on the Doan & Mills Funeral Home website beginning on Thursday.
