Elmira Frances Vardaman Pentecost, Connersville,  passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the age of 86, having lived a full and beautiful life. Born in New Castle, Indiana, on October 7, 1934, she was the daughter of Ronald Vardaman and Marie Moore Retherford. Elmira was the youngest of four children and grew up at Fairholme Farms.

She had 12 years of education and graduated from Kitchel High School in Liberty, Indiana. At a 4-H meeting, she met the love of her life and, before her senior year, married the late Henry Milton Pentecost.  They married in Greens Fork, Indiana, at the home of preacher Ed Allen in 1951. The couple was married for 47 years and enjoyed going to the fair with their family. She retired after 32 years of service from Visteon.

She was an active member of the Sugar Grove Primitive Baptist Church of Liberty, Indiana.  Her family will cherish many memories and will greatly miss Elmira.

Elmira is survived by her daughter Ceola (Daniel) Friday of Indiana, sons Henry Jr. Pentecost and James (Jennifer) Pentecost of Indiana, and daughter Anita (Ed) Wildridge of Indiana. Also, surviving are four grandchildren, Maria, Emma, and Laura Friday, and Sophie Pentecost. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Milton Pentecost.

The family will have a limited graveside service to celebrate her life Monday afternoon, January 18th, at 1:00 p.m. at Salem Cemetery at 4926 Salem Church Road, Greens Fork, Indiana 47345. Jimmy Clemmer will officiate. Burial will immediately follow.
