Elizabeth D. “Liz” Selby, age 88, passed away on November 18, 2021 at Reid Hospital.
Liz was born October 16, 1933 in Caryville, Tennessee to Dale and Ruby Leach Oakes. She was one of 8 children, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. She was the bookkeeper for Cox’s Supermarkets for many years. She was a cashier and worked in produce and worked herself up to bookkeeper. She came to Indiana at the age of 14 as did her future husband Arthur who came from Tennessee at the age of 13. They later met and on September 13, 1952 they married and on October 25, 1953 had a daughter “Linda”. She loved gospel music, cooking good food, pretty dishes, pretty clothes, and pretty jewelry. She loved her family dearly.
She leaves behind many loved ones from an only child, Linda Davidson (Selby) to grandchildren Todd Yates and great-grandchildren Cameron Yates, Jordan Yates, Drew Yates, MacKenzie Yates and Trinity Yates to great great-grandchildren Carson Yates and Addison Yates. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Arthur “Art”, mother, father, brothers, sisters, and many other family members. She will be missed so very much by those who loved her dearly.
A private service for Liz will be held at the convenience of the family. Riggle-Waltermann is handling arrangements.
