Doris Ellen (Taylor) Brenneman, 84, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Henry Community Health following a brief illness.

She was born on September 7, 1936, in Fairfield, Illinois, a daughter of the late Roy and Della (Perkins) Taylor.

Doris was a 1954 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. She married the love of her life, Kenneth “Kenny” Brenneman, on December 23 1955. In 1988, Doris retired from Joann Fabrics in New Castle following many years of employment. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch, and knitting. Doris was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church for many years where she served as church secretary for several years.

Those left to cherish Doris’s memory include five children, Vickie (Kelly) Collins of Muncie, Trillis (Steven) McClatchey of LaPorte, Rickey (Beth) Brenneman of Charlestown, Brenda (Bobby) Lester of Cameron, NC, and Lynnette (Matt) Burge of New Castle; 13 grandchildren, Amber (Charles) Paul, Craig (Brooke) Collins, Ashley Lester, Kristy (Austin) Goff, Tripp (Magen) Walker, Benjamin McClatchey, Kyle (Chelsey) Brenneman, Taylor (Michaela) Lester, Kayla Walker, Kacy (Bryan) Smallwood, Chelsea Walker (Trey Ball), Shelbie (Steven) Bennett, and Landon Burge (Alison Byers); 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marlin (Mary Ann) Taylor of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Esther Taylor of New Castle, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth “Kenny” Brenneman; a grandson, Dylan Lester; a sister, Cora Mae (Ross) Kennedy, and two brothers, Donald Taylor, and Delmar (Judy) Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Harmon officiating. Private entombment will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
