Byron C. Starr, 89 of Mason and formerly of Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Born to Frank and Freida Delores (nee Tharp) Starr on May 22, 1931 in Williamsburg, Indiana.
Byron was a proud graduate of Williamsburg High School where he played basketball and went on to win the State Championship. He enjoyed watching and playing basketball, reading, ballroom dancing will his wife and singing.
Byron was a Veteran in the United States Army, serving his country from 1953-1961. He graduated from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana with a degree in accounting in 1953 and went on to work for Wright Patterson Credit Union for 23 years as their General Manager and President. He had a passion for his work with the credit union and truly enjoyed it. In his spare time, he watched Nascar and built model radio-controlled airplanes.
Byron was a family man, who put his children and grandchildren above all. He will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Freida Starr and three siblings, Hilda Harris, Herschel Starr and Harriett Hawkins.
Byron is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Charlotte Elizabeth (nee Nelson) Starr, three children, Gary Starr, Mark (Cynthia) Starr and Elizabeth (Chris) Koob, eight grandchildren, Jessica, Garret, Lynise, Winston, Mason, Marisa, Audrey, and Tara, one great- granddaughter, Scarlet and many nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Byron’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
