Brian Howard “Hawg” Powell, 53, of Richmond, passed away November 3, 2021, at his home unexpectedly. He was born March 19, 1968, in Richmond to Alva Ray Powell Jr. and Gloria Jean Johnson and lived here all of his life.

He worked for 27 years at Smarrelli General Contractor and was a past board member of Boy Scouts of America troop 100.

Brian’s hobby was working, whether it was a side job he picked up after he got off work, or working on one of the hot rods or square body trucks that he loved. When he wasn’t working he loved to fish, watch I.U. Hoosiers basketball, and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his parents, his wife of 32 years Lori Ann, three children Brant (Melanie) Powell of Austin, TX., Amanda Powell of New Paris, Jordan Powell of Richmond, three grand puppies Gus, Pippa, Rory, two brothers Jerry (Carla) Powell of Richmond, Jim “Bo” (Samantha) Powell of Centerville, his twin sister Tammy (Mike) Sullenbarger of New Paris, his mother in law Donna Himes, sister in law Susan (Ronnie) Day of Richmond, brother in law Chad Himes of West Port, KY., several nieces, nephews and all of his work family at Smarrelli General Contractor.

Brian is preceded in death by his bonus father Fred Johnson and his Father in law Chester Himes.

Services will be 6:00 PM Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Pastor John Shepherd officiating; burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
