Bonnie Lea Callahan, age 79, of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, January 11, 2021, at Reid Health.

Born January 9, 1942, in Milan, Indiana, to Eugene A. and Helen M. Marsh Klein, Bonnie grew up in Aurora, Indiana. She was a 1960 graduate of Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception in Oldenburg, Indiana. In 1966, Bonnie relocated to Connersville, Indiana, before moving to Richmond in 1989, where she worked as a classroom aide at Seton Catholic Schools. Next, Bonnie lived in Huntingburg, Indiana, for more than 10 years and served as a church assistant at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She returned to Richmond in 2008. Bonnie was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. She enjoyed watching Westerns, reading, and decorating her own greeting cards, filled with special messages and poems to brighten someone’s day. Bonnie loved her family and dogs.

Survivors include her daughters, Tracy (Dean) Snyder of Centerville, Indiana, and Becky (Dave) Savoy of Harvest, Alabama; son, Chris Schwarz of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Kara (Leif) Hendrickson of Mason, Ohio, Heather (Charles) Brenegan of Indianapolis, Haley Snyder of Centerville, Beth Savoy of Atlanta, Georgia, Matthew Savoy of Huntsville, Alabama, Adriana (Hazen) Crampton of Madison, Alabama, and Trevor Schwarz of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Owen, Catalina, Charlotte, and Hazen Jr.; brother, Fr. Pius Klein, OSB of Saint Meinrad, Indiana; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanie Hinchman; son, Eric Schwarz; and parents.

Per Bonnie’s request, there will be no public services. A private, family graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family with her brother, Fr. Pius Klein, OSB officiating. Burial will be in River View Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
