Amy Mashawn Saunders, age 49, of Sebastian, FL formerly of New Castle passed away on February 28th, 2021 following complications of surgery.

Amy was born on October 22, 1971 in New Castle, IN to Terry and Cheri (Chew) Saunders. She was a 1990 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School and attended Heron School of Art. Amy’s passion was art, traveling and adventure. She resided in Amsterdam for several years. While there she traveled Western Europe and made wonderful life long friends. Her travels also took her to China, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. She made her home in Florida for the last 12 years. Like her mother, she loved gardening and sewing. She was excited to continue creating art in her newly designed art room.

Amy was known as the “Peacemaker” among her friends and family. She presented a dimpled smile to everyone she met. She had a love for all things, people, animals and the earth. She is survived by her father Terry Saunders, Gail Peaslee, her loving fiancée Brad Johnson of Sebastian, FL., her brother Todd Saunders and her nieces whom she adored Grace and Lily Saunders and Meghan Dubinger. Also, survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Her mother Cheri (Chew) Saunders preceded her in death as well as her grandparents and cousins Kelsey and Matt.


Informal/casual gathering will be held on Saturday, May 8th from 2-5 p.m. at Macer-Hall, Marcum & Moffitt Funeral home. We encourage friends to come share and celebrate Amy’s life with us.
