Tracy Short Brutus, age 58, of Indianapolis, departed this life on December 14, 2020, finding peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born September 16, 1962 on the Misawa U.S. Airforce Based in the city of Misawa, Japan. She grew up in a Christian home and attended Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Richmond, Indiana.

Tracy loved spending time with her family, traveling and music, and she was full of life and charisma which allowed her to generate friendships with ease. After graduating from Richmond Senior High School, she earned her Associate Degree in Nursing and General Education from Indiana University East and completed her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Psychology from Purdue University.

Early in her career, Tracy worked in hospitals throughout the Indianapolis area including Indiana University Health’s Methodist Hospital. She was adept at working in challenging environments which included some of the most dynamic areas of medicine including cardiac, oncology and home nursing care. Before falling ill, Tracy worked for Centene Corporation as a RN Care Manager in Columbia, South Carolina.

Survivors include her son Maxwell Brutus; parents Dr. John and Barbara Short; sisters Berline MacDonald (Michael) and Elzoria Short; brother John C Short; nephew Vontez Ferguson (Franchesca); nieces Ravonne Ferguson, Lauren Short, and Kendall Short.

A private Celebration of Life Service for Tracy will be held at the convenience of the family.
