It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our brother Stephen Baker Lynch, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 27th, 2020. Steve was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 27th, 1961 to William A. and Mary Helen Lynch. In 1964, the Lynch’s moved from Milford, Ohio to Connersville, Indiana.

Steve graduated from Connersville High School in 1979. He was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in Track and Field, Cross Country, and Football.

In 1983, Steve graduated from Purdue University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He then earned an Associate degree in Computer Science from Indiana University East in 1985.

From June 1986 to November of 1991, Steve served in the United States Navy, graduating from the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. After an injury ended his career in Aviation, he completed his naval career aboard the U.S.S Shenandoah, stationed in the Mediterranean and in Norfolk, Virginia. He was honorably discharged in November of 1991, having attained the rank of Lieutenant.

Steve returned to Connersville and was employed by PK-USA in Shelbyville, Indiana from 1994 until 2009. After the company downsized, Steve worked as a substitute teacher in Fayette and Union Counties. He also worked at Container Kraft in Connersville for two years. In 2012, PK-USA invited Steve to come back and he remained in their employ until his passing.

On Sept. 1st, 2001 Steve married Carol (Susie) Russell at the Woodland Bible Church. He was a member of Connersville Baptist Temple.

Steve was an avid movie buff and fan of The Beatles. An animal lover, he was extremely fond of his black labs, Midnight and Sam.

We will all miss Steve’s generous heart and his unique sense of humor. He was devoted to caring for our mother for many years as her health declined.

Steve is survived by his father, William A. Lynch; his sisters, Dr. Cheryl Wickham (Mark) of Brighton, Michigan and Pamela Faith Binge of Naples, Florida; and a brother, William P. of Richmond, Indiana. He is also survived by his former wife and best friend, Carol (Susie) Russell. Also surviving are seven nieces and nephews, Taira Lynch and Keisha Klein (Benny), Dustin and Brian Binge, and Carly Bromley (Chad), Andrew (Kit) and Hannah Wickham; and one great niece, Zoey Klein.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Helen Lynch. Steve was also very fond of Carol’s parents, Darrell B. and Dorothy Russell who do not survive.

Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home will be transporting Steve for a private family graveside service at Sheeks Cemetery in Mitchell, Indiana where he will be laid to rest next to his mother on Saturday, December 5th, 2020. Dr. Dan Smith will be officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Animal Shelter.
