Stanley Carl Market, 92, of Milton, IN passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Reid Health in Richmond, IN.
He was born on September 17, 1928 in Milton to William and Mary (Seffrin) Market and had lived all his life in the area. He married his wife Carole Ann Sweet in 1953 and was happily married for 58 years before her death in 2012. Stan served his country as a Staff Sargent, 9th Infantry, 2nd Division, U.S. Army 1951-52. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Evening Kiwanis Club, American Legion Post #169, for 32 years, all of Cambridge City.
Stanley was a retired carpenter, who worked 25 years for J. S. Sweet Company. He also worked 30 years as a salesman for James Sheets Real Estate. He was named Citizen of the year in Cambridge City in 2000. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved traveling, visiting friends and neighbors and sharing the bounty of his garden and fruit from his back yard. He was also an avid mushroom hunter.
Survivors include his children Mary Lou Griffey, Linda (Mike) Ulerich, Diann Market, Christine (Tim) Brown, Debbie Turner and Ginny (Bill) Schwab; daughter-in-law Denise Market; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; sister Helen Cornet; sister-in-law JoAnn Market; nieces and nephews.
Limited public calling will be from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City. A private funeral mass will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cambridge City with Father John Hall officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by is wife Carole Ann (Sweet) Market, son Donald Market; a brother Lowell Market and great-granddaughter Claire Griffey..
