Roy H. Blomeyer, age 93, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at The Springs of Richmond.

Born June 7, 1927, in Richmond, Indiana, to Henry and Martha Tiemann Blomeyer, Roy was a life-long resident of this community. He served in the U.S. Army. Roy worked at Richmond Brothers and the Hoosier Store. After the 1968 explosion in downtown Richmond, he opened his own store, Fireside China, where he worked until retiring. Roy was raised in the former St. John Lutheran Church and later attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He did a lot of work for the church and was known for taking care of the sign in front of the church. Roy enjoyed taking care of his yard and gardening. He was artistic and a perfectionist in everything he did.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sharon Applegeet Blomeyer; special family members, George and Jaya Avirappattu and “grandsons” Davis, Jacob, and Daniel George, all of New Jersey; niece, Pam Takacs of Valparaiso, Indiana; nephew, Paul Blomeyer Jr. of Colorado; other great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; cousin, Betty Blose of Centerville, Ohio, who was like a sister; sister-in-law, Carolyn Clark of Webster, Indiana; brother-in-law, Noel Dean Steinard of Connersville, Indiana; and many friends, including the “Friday Night Gang”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Nell Tiemann Blomeyer; sister, Louise (Ed) Fitzenreiter; brother, Paul (Irene) Blomeyer Sr.; and many cousins.

A private graveside service for Roy H. Blomeyer will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, where masks will be worn. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
