Ronald “Ron” Keith Moore went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2020.
One of eight children, Ron was born in Connersville on July 29, 1944 to Orville F. Moore & Marie Biere Moore. He was raised in the Fayette County area attending local schools until graduating from Connersville High School in 1962.
After graduation, he joined the US Navy in 1963. Ron was honorably discharged from the Navy as a First-Class Chief Petty Officer in 1967.
Ron enjoyed the outdoors, and his hobbies included hunting, trapping and fishing. He was known as “Trapper” to friends and co-workers.
Ron was married to Darlene Horning on Dec 24, 1966. Ron and Darlene had four children: Sandra, Deborah, Joseph, and Mary.
Ron was employed at Philco-Ford where he graduated from the machine repair apprenticeship program. After graduation, he worked at Chrysler in New Castle. Ron later went to work at Navistar in Indianapolis and retired from Navistar in 2006.
Ron married Laura Price McCorkhill on Oct 21, 1989, and they lived in New Palestine, Indiana. While living there, they attended New Palestine United Church.
After retiring, Ron enjoyed gardening. Laura and Ron had a local farmers market in New Palestine. Ron also enjoyed fishing during his retirement. Laura and Ron spent winters in Sun City, Arizona, and during the summer they returned to Indiana where Ron enjoyed attending Blooming Grove Family Worship Center with Pastor Tom Marshall.
Ron is survived by his wife, Laura Moore. Surviving children are: Sandra Moore, Deborah (Mike) Cameron, Joseph (Kimberly) Moore, Mary Moore, Amy (Jim) Donohue, and Megan McCorkhill. His surviving brothers and sisters are: Jerry Moore, David (Tracey) Moore, Diana (Paul) Towler, and Janice Hahn. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Orville F. Moore and Marie Biere Moore Bennett, his daughter, Angela Moore, his brothers Danny Moore, Kenneth Moore and sister Sharon Moore.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 12 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Jaycee Building, 710 W. 35th St., Connersville. A graveside service conducted by Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Dale Cemetery, Connersville.
Memorial contributions may be to the Fayette County Cancer Society in memory of Ron.
