Mildred “Susie” Martin, age 91, of Greens Fork, Indiana, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020, at Ambassador Healthcare.

Born June 13, 1929, at the family farm in Greens Fork, Indiana, to Carl J. and Jessie Ellen Mull Martin, Susie was a life-long resident of this area. She was a 1947 graduate of Centerville High School. Susie learned to drive from her mother who stood on the running boards of the car and issued instructions. After graduation she worked as a cashier for Woolworth’s and Veach’s Toy Station. In 1950 Susie went to work for Hill Floral Products, where she worked until 1968. Susie left Hill’s so she could take care of her ailing mother. Susie also helped on the family farm by milking cows and driving tractors as needed. Her brother, Kermit, taught her how to drive a tractor but failed to tell her how to stop one. She learned that after going through the barn door the first time. Susie continued caring for her mother until she passed away in 1975. She went on to take care of her father and two brothers, Guy and Kermit, at the family farm for the rest of their lives. Susie enjoyed IU basketball and Cincinnati Reds baseball. She also enjoyed working on puzzles, doing handwork, scrapbooking, and visiting with neighbors.

Survivors include her sister, Mary Kaucher of Richmond; brother, Carl (Dora) Martin Jr. of Richmond; sister-in-law, Fay Ann Martin of Farmersville, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mable Clara Spraker and Sarah Brown; and brothers, James Ellis, Clyde C., Lyman, Lawrence, Howard, Guy “Dude”, Kermit, Lynn, and Paul Martin.
