Mary Lou Hartman, age 101, formerly of Richmond, Indiana, died Friday, December 18, 2020, at Grace Village Health Care Facility in Winona Lake.

Born May 2, 1919, in San Pierre, Indiana, to Ert N. and Anna L. Otte Turman, Mary Lou moved from Kouts, Indiana, to Wayne County in 1934. She was a 1937 graduate of Centerville High School. Mary Lou retired from Nettle Creek Industries in 1984, where she worked as an office manager and credit officer for 26 years and had previously worked at International Harvester for 16 years. Following retirement, Mary Lou worked in retail for 15 years and served as a volunteer at Reid Hospital for several years, as well as at the Richmond Community Food Pantry. She became a member of the former St. John Lutheran Church in 1934, where she sang in the Senior Choir for several years and served on various committees.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Harkleroad of Syracuse, Indiana; grandson, Ryan (Alexandra) Harkleroad of Indianapolis, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Alison and Ethan Harkleroad; nephew, James (Judy) Turman of Richmond, Indiana; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alvin Henry and Charles R. Hartman; parents; son-in-law, Larry Harkleroad; brother, James Turman; two stepsisters; and a nephew.

A private graveside service for Mary Lou Hartman will be held at Lutherania Cemetery with Pastor Chuck Miller officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
