Lynette O. Floyd Potter, 63, of Richmond, Indiana gained her angel wings unexpectedly Sun., December 6, 2020 at Reid Health Hospital. Lynn was born December 11, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio to Wanda and Hank Simpson.

Lynn accepted Christ at an early age at Bethel A.M.E. Church. She later joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer, president of the Senior Choir, member of the Usher Board and the praise dance team as well as other ministries and committees. She was an extraordinary athlete and an avid sports lover. She played softball, tennis, and volleyball. Lynn was the first black cheerleader at Test Middle School. She was the proud president of the Richmond Football-Moms Club.

Lynn was kind hearted, generous, and a loyal friend. She never met a stranger and was never afraid to speak her mind. She loved to laugh and have fun. She never failed to be a second mom and MiMi to anyone who needed her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Wanda Simpson; son, Jason (Laura) Potter; step-daughter, Andrea VanMeter; her fur baby, CiCi (Tee Tee Bird) Potter ?; five grandchildren: Adrianna VanMeter, Jacurion (Whitney Detweiler) VanMeter, Faith (Caleb Bowles) Reigle, Jayla (Trae Wilks) Potter and Macy Potter; three step-grandchildren: Chandler Walker, Amiya Mathis, Brylee Owens; seven great-grandchildren: Shaylynn, Kimora, Kenley, Kaydence, Rilah, Chase, and Adilynn; three sisters: Maria “Dee Dee” Wade, Gaynette Holsinger, Laura (Greg) Sharp; a brother, D’Mario (Michelle) Simpson; her loving aunts: Mary Wright and Helen (Edward) Allen; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved very much; Godsons: Salee Sellers and Marcus Wright; dear cousins Andi Moore, Amy Wright, and Vicki Robinson; and Lynn’s special friends: Kim White (Jason’s godmother), Deborah Grimes, Elizabeth (Kenny) Moore, and Marilyn Johnson Russell.

She is preceded in death by her Dad Hank Simpson. Lynn’s smile, outgoing personality, and loving advice will be missed by many.

Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Friday, December 18, 2020, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM; and on Saturday, December 19, 2020, from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
