Linda Tyner, 80, of New Castle, bravely fought cancer for six years before a peaceful passing on the morning of Sunday, December 6, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 17, 1940 in New Castle, IN, a daughter of the late Wyatt and Ina (Carnes) Jeffries.

Linda attended New Castle schools and later earned her Realtor License from Ball State University. She met the love of her life, John Paul Tyner, in 1956 and they were married a year later in 1957. They enjoyed 49 years together before John’s passing in 2006. Linda was a realtor for many years in New Castle and worked under Properties Unlimited. Linda served as President of the Henry County Realtor Board and also represented the board in Washington. She was a longtime member of the Tabernacle of Praise Church in Muncie where she loved working in the children and youth ministries. Linda also was an avid Walt Disney fan and shared that love with her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include three children, John M. (wife: Patricia) Tyner of Springport, David P. (wife: Amy) Tyner of New Castle and Kami (husband: Gary) Bertram of New Castle; nine grandchildren, Amy (husband: Frank) Brooks, Beth (husband: Clay) Morgan, Sara (husband: Charles) Howe, Emily Sullivan (Dalton Engle), Noah Tyner, Elijah Tyner, Emma Tyner, Jolie Tompkins and Anna Tyner; 12 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Parthena Drewry, Nora Mason, Larry (wife: Barbara) Jeffries, Norman Jeffries and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Soni Tyner and siblings, Wanda York and Gary Jeffries.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Tabernacle of Praise 2200 East Fuson Rd, Muncie, IN 47302 with Pastor John Tyner officiating.

Friends may call from 4 – 7 pm, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Sproles Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
