Larry Alan Conley passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, October 22, 2020 after a long battle with cancer.
Larry was born in New Castle, Indiana on February 15, 1958. He attended Tri-High and immediately went into the workforce. A varied career history included jobs in construction, appliance sales and repair, door-to-door sales, and the founding of S&L Carpet Cleaning & Restoration. For nearly 30 years, until his retirement, Larry built a strong, local business that provided for dozens of employees. One of the most educated practitioners in his field, Larry had over 50 certifications, including 3 master certifications, one of only a handful of people in the country to reach this level.
Larry enjoyed sailing, scuba diving, hiking and traveling. One of his fondest memories was a month-long sailing trip. From San Diego to Hawaii on a small sailboat with his nephew Kriss Conley.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Conley; his son Edward Conley, wife Lisa; daughter, Nicole Barry, husband, Robert; daughter, Sara Conley, fiancée, Gary Branscum; daughter, Laura Conley; several step-children: Douglas Conwell, Bradley Conwell, Gabrielle Swasey, Rocky Burton, Jessie Burton and Ashley Scott; brother Edward “Butch” Conley, wife Linda; sister Sheryl Batson, husband Cliff. As well as grandchildren Alexis, Adrina, Aeris, Bailey, Valerie, Audrey, Zach, Penelope, Holden and Jackson.
Larry is predeceased by his sister, Chiquita Hughes; his father, Bill Conley; and his mother, Irene Conley.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2020 at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad Street, New Castle. A Luau theme Celebration of Life Services will follow at 4:00 p.m., at the Raintree Inn located at SR 3 and 300 South, New Castle. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m., until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Funeral directors and staff are honored to serve the Larry Conley family.
