Kent B Kitterman, 85, Liberty, was born on August 13, 1935 and passed away on November 8,2020. His parents were Ennis ‘Skeet’ Kitterman and Myra Kitterman Bell (Bosworth). Kent grew up in Richmond, Indiana, graduating second in his class from Richmond High School where he was on the golf and basketball teams. Kent attended the University of Cincinnati in the Engineering Co-op program and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Kent worked at several businesses in his career, including International Harvester, where he was on the team that developed the world’s first triple tractor-trailer for on-road use. He worked at IBM in Cincinnati and Wayne Corporation in Richmond. In 1971 Kent purchased a bus and commercial truck body business and headed Kent Kitterman, Inc. in San Jose, California until his retirement in 1997. He held a number of patents, including a patent for a recycling truck body.
In retirement he lived in Grants Pass, Oregon and Palm Springs, California before settling in Liberty, Indiana in 2010, where he reunited with and married Joan Lewis Kratzer, whom he knew from his youth growing up in the Richmond area. Kent is survived by Joan and his children Matt, Kristin and Jack as well as five grandchildren Eaon, Emmaline, John, Melissa and Vicki.
Kent will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
