Karen Kalene Scanlan, 81, Dublin, passed away Tuesday evening December 22, 2020 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A daughter of the late Augustus and Constance (Adrian) White, Karen was born in Dublin, Indiana on August 24, 1939. She grew up in Dublin and graduated from Cambridge City Lincoln High School with the class of 1957. She honorably served her country in the United States Air Force. Karen raised her family in Dublin. She loved and cared for them deeply. As a devoted mom, grandma and great grandma, she was an active parent in many of the functions and activities her children were involved with. She was one of two founding members of the Western Wayne Girls Softball League and remained very supportive of that program for many years. She retired from Ford/Visteon in Connersville after 30 years of service. Karen enjoyed craft work, making candy, cooking, crocheting and sewing. She became the mask supplier to her family during the COVID pandemic. Following her retirement, she lived with daughters in Dayton, Ohio and most recently in Rushville.
Survivors include 5 daughters, Nanette Scanlan, Debbie (Tony) Longnecker, Brenda (Paul Eversole) Mills, Shelly (John) Taylor and Sheila (Jamey) McCurry; grandchildren, Erica (Kenny) Terhaar, Kyle (Amanda) Longnecker, Ashley(Dustin Tucker) Mills, Tyler (Emily) Eversole, Julia and Jaiden Taylor , Keala and Kaiya McCurry; great grandchildren, Morgan, Shannon, Abby, Zoey, Zane, Zander, Audrey, Miles, Mia and Luna; extended family, Beverly Stull, Amanda (Josh) Garza, Gabriel, Caleb, Avery and Glennis Kay Schofield; several nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Erin Marie and Brandon Matthew Longnecker; 3 siblings, Ina England, Marjorie Leonard and Cecil White; niece, Nona Terhune and nephew Richard McBride.
Visitation was held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday December 27, 2020 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. A private funeral service followed.
