Joan “JoJo” Rowe, age 98, of Centerville, Indiana, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Ambassador Healthcare.
Born January 29, 1922, in Richmond, Indiana, to Samuel and Ruby Rich Culbertson, Joan was a life-long resident of Centerville. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in New Castle, Indiana. Joan was a wife and mother foremost. Her boys were the joy of her life, and she loved them more than life itself. Joan was a joy to be around and always had a smile for everyone she met. Joan loved flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed receiving greeting cards and kept every card that she had ever received from her friends and family, reading them over and over again.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry (Linda) Rowe of Greens Fork, Indiana, and John (Becky) Rowe of Centerville; daughter-in-law, Sandra Rowe of Centerville; granddaughter, Teresa (Ty) Farmer of Centerville; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert Rowe, who died on July 24, 1991; son, James Rowe; parents; sisters, Martha Culbertson, Joyce Hurt, Frances Reinhardt, Velma Howell, and Evelyn Kendall; and brothers, Willis and Nelson Culbertson.
The family would like to thank the nurses, staff, and Dr. DeSantis at Ambassador Healthcare for all the love and care they gave to “JoJo” during her 6 ½ years there. She loved each and every one of them and thought of them as her family, as well.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we regret to inform you that services for Joan “JoJo” Rowe will be private with Pastor Denny Neal officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020, on the Doan & Mills website. Burial will be in Spartanburg Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
