James R. Arvin, age 87, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Reid Health.

Born October 28, 1933, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Thomas and Evelyn Isaacs Arvin, James lived in Wayne County, Indiana, most of his life. He was a 1952 graduate of Fairfield High School in Ohio. James proudly served with the Green Berets in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Alcoa in 1989. James enjoyed attending Oak Park Church. He also enjoyed racing horses, driving trucks, and telling stories about the past.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Linda Joan Terry Arvin; daughters, Deborah (Paul) Arvin-Zinck of Franklin, Ohio, Patty (Steve) Bernhard of West Carrollton, Ohio, Anne (Dave) Blankenship of Lebanon, Ohio, Jamie Hilbert of Orlando, Florida, Kimberly Asher of Richmond, and Donnis (Brian) Stinson of Lewisburg, Ohio; sons, Rick (Jody) Asher of Lexington, Kentucky, and Michael Asher of Richmond; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Michael Arvin of Largo, Florida, and Gary Arvin of Hamilton, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Rachel Ann Stowe; parents; five sisters; and four brothers.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we regret to inform you that services for James R. Arvin will be private with Chaplain Rick Alvey and brother-in-law, Paul Honeycutt officiating. The service will be recorded and available on the Doan & Mills Funeral Home website. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
