James Jason Burkhart, age 51, of Centerville, departed this life on December 15, 2020, finding peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born December 3, 1969 in Richmond, Indiana. He lived in this community most of his life. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Ball State University and Bachelor of Arts from Grace College. Jason retired from the State of Indiana as the Regional Director of Safety, and most recently was employed with M.A.C. Trucking. Jason didn’t know a stranger, and would speak to anyone. He was quick to tell a good joke that allowed you to experience his contagious laughter, and debate for hours proving his point. He was lovingly known as Grumpy Paws to his grandchildren, and Uncle Meanie Head to his nieces and nephews, who loved and favored him.

Survivors include his wife, Fabi Burkhart; children, James, Lucas, Jason (Linda), and Ashley Burkhart Moore; Dad Jerry Warren; sisters Jerri Lynn (Paul) Stanley and Jessica (David) Cate. Biological father Jim Burkhart. Grandchildren, Connor, Corbin, Levi, and Jack Burkhart; Landan and Gabe Moore; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Portia Warren; grandparents James and Mabel Burkhart; William and Elizabeth Bowling; and Alex and Mary Warren.

Visitation for James Jason Burkhart will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December, 20, 2020, at Community Family Funeral Home, 101 West Main Street, Richmond, IN. The funeral service will be December 20 at 2:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation with Pastor Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
