Harold W. Kenney, 76, of Leesburg, Florida, formerly of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away on March 25, 2020 at Dove House Hospice Care, Westminster, MD after a long battle with cancer.
Harold was born September 27, 1943 in Ogdensburg, NY to the proud parents Carvel Mills Kenney and June Marie Smithers. Harold attended Ogdensburg Free Academy graduating 1962. After he graduated his country called him to duty and he joined the Air Force in 1962 and served during the Vietnam War as a Radio Operator. Harold continued his enlistment as an instructor at Keesler Air Force Base. He served his country for a total of 23 years when he retired as a Master Sargent.
He met his beloved Sara in Florida and spent 10 years in Hagerstown, IN where he was active in the local American Legion.
Harold would never want to hire someone to fix or repair anything when he could do it himself even if he had no clue he would figure it out. In the early ’80s the engine in a pickup truck went up. He figured out how to remove that engine and went to the junkyard and got a replacement engine and put it in. He just stared at it and figured it out. When the septic tank started leaking he dug it up by hand and fixed it himself. The house needed a new roof, he did it himself. He was a perfectionist, if it didn’t look right, he would start over and make it right.
Harold was survived by his beloved Sara Kenney; his son Michael Kenney and his wife Christine. He will always be the cherished grandfather of Tanner Kenney, Morgan Kenney, and Jamie Stout. He was a very caring friend to many dogs and cats over the years. He was also survived by his daughter Amy Stout and her husband James.
