Edward A. “Ed” Clinton, 79, of Straughn passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born April 13, 1941 in New Castle, son of the late James T. and Clara B. (McWilliams) Clinton. Ed lived most of his life in the New Castle, Spiceland and Straughn communities.

Ed began working early by helping his maternal grandfather, George McWilliams, on their farm caring for the farm animals and tending to the various crops. He also helped his paternal grandfather, Jim who was Street Commissioner and ran the City Garage. Ed could often be found down at the Stock Yards on the weekends watching his Uncles: Frank and Johnny Clinton selling livestock. As Ed grew older, he and brother, Larry, worked for their dad, James. First at the Shell station on Broad Street, then at the Texaco filing station on the corner of 25th and Broad Street.

Ed graduated from New Castle High School in 1959. Ed managed the Sky Vue Drive In for several years. He had been employed at Chrysler Corporation, Warner Gear and retired from Borg Warner after seventeen years of service.
Ed enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching sports especially football and basketball games. He also had acquired quite a coin collection over the years.

Survivors include a son, Scott Clinton and his wife, Nahir Clinton of Apopka, Florida; a daughter, Cheryl Weaver and her husband, Wayne Weaver of Urbana, Illinois; two grandchildren; a sister, Linda Kay Clinton-Pierce and her husband, Charles Pierce of Wilmington, North Carolina, and a brother, Larry Clinton of Mustang, Oklahoma. He is survived by nieces and nephews as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, May 18, 2020 at St. Anne Cemetery in New Castle with Father John Hall officiating.
