Dewey Gibbs Jr., 90, passed away Saturday evening December 12, 2020 at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville, Indiana. A son of the late Dewey and Irene (Stewart) Gibbs Sr., Dewey was born in Dublin, Indiana on October 25, 1930. Dewey lived most of his life in the Cambridge City community and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad / Conrail as a machine operator and regulator and retired after 43 years of service. Dewey was married to the love of his life, the former Frances “Mae” Hale and they shared 38 wonderful years together before her death on February 10, 2016. Dewey attended the Baptist and Nazarene Churches in Cambridge City and in his leisure, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, talking about his days on the railroad, playing cards and BINGO, traveling, taking cruises and fishing.

Dewey is survived by a daughter, Pam Turner of Warsaw; 1 grandson; 2 siblings, James (Judy) Gibbs and Alice Price both of Connersville; a niece whom he and Mae raised as a daughter, Heidi; several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mae Gibbs; 5 siblings, Sam, David L., John W. and Gail E. Gibbs and Mary Lou Childs.

Visitation will be from noon until the time of Private services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday December 16, 2020 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Steven Earlywine will officiate. Burial will follow at Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
