Clayton D. Hunt, age 81, formerly of Byron, Illinois, died Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Ambassador Healthcare.

Born on October 26, 1938, in Rockford, Illinois, to Max D. and Hazel Allinson Hunt, Clayton lived in Illinois, with ministries in Alabama and Florida, before moving to Richmond in 2017. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Clayton earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian education and missions at Lincoln Christian College. He was a retired minister and former barber. Clayton was a member of Centerville Christian Church. He enjoyed his family, especially the grandchildren; reading; preaching; sharing Jesus; and ministering to people.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Charlotte J. Sutton Hunt; sons, Brad (Amy) Hunt of Richmond and Dan (Jo) Hunt of Florida; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren (with one on the way); sisters, Sandy Burkhart and Sherry (Ray) Empereur, both of Illinois; cousin, Dennis Hunt; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Hunt.

Services for Clayton D. Hunt will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
