RICHMOND, Ind. – Richard W. Edwards, age 85, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Reid Health.
Born July 19, 1933, in Estill County, Kentucky, to Isom B. and Emma Riddell Edwards, Richard lived in this community most of his life. He was a 1952 graduate of Richmond High School. Richard retired from Leiss Tool & Die Corporation in Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of TVR Car Club of North America, Wayne County Horseshoes, and the Wayne County Genealogical Society. Richard loved history, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Harris Edwards; daughter, Polly (Steven) Helser of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Hugh A. (Jennifer Drake) Edwards of Kalamazoo, Michigan; grandchildren, Alyssa (Dwhite) Smith, Madeline (Josh) Helser-Howard, Phillip Helser, Elizabeth (Blake) Delaney, Samuel Helser, Owen Edwards, and Ellis Edwards; two great-grandchildren, Ian and Hudson; sisters, Lois Walton and Jody (John) Dillman, both of Richmond; sister-in-law, Barbara Harris of Sherwood, Arizona; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Ford.
A Celebration of Life for Richard W. Edwards will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019, in the Community Room at the Wayne County Historical Museum, 1150 North A Street, Richmond. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
