Rev. Steven E. Wigger, 65, of Anderson, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on the afternoon of Monday, December 2, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born on May 26, 1954 in Union City, Ohio, a son of the late Daniel Eugene and Marjorie Louise (Holsapple) Wigger.

Steve was a 1972 graduate of Misissinawa Valley High School where he sang in the choir and was a standout on the track team. He attended Ohio State University where he majored in voice and ran track. Steve graduated from Broadcasting School in Dayton, Ohio. He was a broadcaster on radio and television in Richmond, Indiana and later managed 12 Taco Tiko Restaurants. He left his career when he felt the call to preach.

Steve married Melissa Thompson on May 24, 1975, and together they enjoyed 36 years of marriage until the Lord called her home in 2012. He was a licensed Elder with The Wesleyan Church and ordained with the ICHA. He pastored churches in Centerville, Bradford, Ohio, Muncie, Cowan, and Anderson. Steve was a gifted musician playing the piano and accordion and traveled and sang with his family for several years. In 2012, Steve married Deborah Shipman and together they served the youth at Grace Holiness Church in Anderson. For 35 years, he enjoyed assisting his dear friends, Rollin and Debora Mitchell, with Kid’s Camp in Greenfield.

Steve had worked for many years at Firm Foundation in Westfield and Primerose Retirement Community in Anderson. He was currently employed at Pendleton Trucking Company. He also enjoyed his tenure as a firefighter with the Bradford, Ohio, and Cowan Volunteer Fire Departments. He had also earned his Certified Nursing Assistant designation.

He loved adventure, jumping out of airplanes, riding roller coasters, fighting fires, and working with children. His current desire was to purchase a pontoon to take his family fishing on Brookville Lake. He loved his children and grandchildren and if there were any events involving his family he was always present.

Those left to cherish Steve’s memory include his wife, Deborah (Shipman) Wigger; his children, Christina (Keith) Himelick of Curtisville, Rachel (Micah) Himelick of Pleasant Hill, OH, Marjorie (Derrick) Lane of Tipp City, OH, Elisabeth (Mark) Heskett of Muncie and Kameron and Kylie Dillon at home; grandchildren, Sharlenae Himelick, Logan, Jason and Dane Himelick, Devin and Daniel Lane, and Merisha and Brady Heskett; a brother, Danny Lee (Brenda) Wigger of Union City and a sister, Janie (Don) Landis of Versailles, OH; a step-sister, Julie Pigg of Winchester and a step-brother, Rex Prescott of Union City and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Melissa Wigger.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, at Memorial Wesleyan Church, 2701 N. Memorial Dr., New Castle, with Pastor Tim Wiford and Rev. Rollin Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Union City Cemetery, 1408 W. Oak St., Union City, Indiana.
