William Burnam Centers of Richmond entered heaven on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Reid Health surrounded by his family. He was born March 11, 1946 in Garrard County, Kentucky to William and Francis “Cornelius” Centers and lived in Richmond most of his life.

William was special needs all of his life. He lived with his mother, until her passing and then moved with Lisa & Gary, until moving into a waiver home in Richmond, cared by a very special caregiver, Soundra Nolen and others.

William was a friendly man, with a happy smile, who loved his family. He also loved his pipe and eating at Wendy’s. William never knew a stranger, always speaking to everyone and waving at every passerby as his smoked his pipe. We are going to miss his favorite words, “Here Now”, “Yup” and “Nope”.

Survivors include his three sisters, Lisa (Gary) Spotts of Webster, Jenny (Doug) Mullen of Straughn, Carla (Gene) Wyatt of Richmond and one brother-in-law Terry Smith of Richmond. Also, very special nieces who always included him in their holiday traditions, Cindy (Donnie) Allen of Bethel and Becky (Bill) Burton of Winchester, other nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, many cousins and many friends.

William is preceded in death by his mother in 2009, his father in 2007 (Sue his stepmom in 2005). Three sisters – Mary Smith, Penny Drook, Kelley Rose Centers and two brothers – Anthony Centers, Jeffrey Ray Centers and brother-in-law William Drook. His grandparents Leonard & Elizabeth Centers and Burnam & Cora Cornelius are also deceased.

Memorial Contributions can be made to his waiver home for the continued love and support to his two roommates, Sluis & Tom. Lisa Spotts, c/o Toschlog Waiver Home, PO Box 102, Webster, IN 47392.
