Otis Johnson, 73, of Cambridge City passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at his residence.
He was born on March 7, 1945 In Berea, Kentucky To Millard and Grethel Lakes Johnson and had lived in Cambridge City for many years. He graduated in 1963 in the last graduating class from Whitewater High School. Otis was a coach for 11-12 year old boys for the Richmond Optimists Club Youth League; He also loved square dancing, camping, travel and golfing with family, especially his brother Ova. He was a faithful member and usher of the Nettle Creek Church of the Brethren and an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years Jodi Johnson; stepchildren Brad (Beth) Bowman of Cambridge City and Amy (Bart) Meyer of Aiken, SC; step grandchildren Chad (Sarah) Bowman of Cambridge City, Brandon and Kayla Meyer of Aiken, SC; step-great-grandchildren Emma and Boyd Bowman of Cambridge City; siblings Ova (Marilyn) Johnson of Richmond, IN, Jerry (Connie) Johnson of Denver, CO; nieces and nephews; Mike (Linda) Strong, Becky (Quincy) Young, Connie (Vince) Rosellen, Jeff (Juvon) Johnson and Scott (Christy) Johnson; and a special buddy Gizmo Meyer.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Corena Gomez, Ruby Strong; brother Jesse Johnson, nephew Ricky Gomez, niece Cheryl Gomez and brother-in-law Art Gomez.
Friends may gather at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 10:00 am until start of services at 1:00 pm. Pastor Brian Mackie will be officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
