RICHMOND, Ind. – Gregory Dale Knarzer, age 63, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at his home.
Born November 8, 1955, in Richmond, Indiana, to Dale and Dorothy Bishop Knarzer, Greg was a lifelong resident of Richmond. He was a 1974 graduate of Richmond High School. Greg followed his father’s career path as a fire fighter. He was a fireman with the Richmond Fire Department, retiring as a lieutenant after 28 years of service.
Greg was a loyal friend to many and had a big, loving heart. He was a tremendous sports fan.
Greg was a faithful follower of the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his beloved mother, Dorothy; sister, Kimberly (Jim) Daggy; niece, Jessica Daggy; nephew, Justin (Amber) Daggy; great-niece, Penelope Daggy; great-nephew, Jackson Gray; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends. Greg also leaves behind his beloved dog, “Chopper” and two special friends, Dave Burkhardt and Melissa Irvin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale, who he considered his best friend.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond, with honors provided by Richmond Fire Department. Service will follow at 1 p.m. Jan. 5 at the funeral home with Rev. Ted Chalk officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
